How it works

Three steps, and you’re in charge of every one.

  1. Tell us what’s going on

Write it the way you’d tell a friend. Our assistant asks a few questions so firms have the details they need. It isn’t a lawyer and won’t give legal advice.

  2. Firms review it without your name

Law firms in your area that handle your kind of case see a version with your personal details removed. Only a firm that decides to take it on sees the full story and how to reach you.

  3. Talk with the firms that respond

Firms that want your case contact you directly. They also appear on your status page, so you can call them yourself. Which one you hire, if any, is up to you.

Plainly stated

Why firms pay us, and what that means for you

We’re an advertising platform. Law firms pay a published flat fee when they choose to take on a case they’ve reviewed. Every firm pays the same price for the same kind of case, and what we charge never depends on whether you hire them or how your case turns out.

That’s why it’s free for you, and why the firms that reach out are ones that chose to. We don’t rank firms, rate them or tell you which to pick. You talk with them and decide.

Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes. Firms pay us; you don’t. Any fees for legal work are between you and the firm you hire, and most firms charge a retainer.

Is what I tell you confidential?

We’re not a law firm, so what you tell us isn’t protected by attorney-client privilege. Firms reviewing your case see it with your personal details removed. A firm that takes it on sees everything you shared.

How many firms will contact me?

It depends on your case and your area. More than one firm may reach out, and you can stop new contact at any time from your status page.

What if nobody reaches out?

We can’t promise a firm will respond. If your situation is urgent, it’s completely reasonable to contact attorneys on your own at the same time.

Where do I check on my request?

When you finish, we text you a link to your status page. Lost it? Get a new link with the phone number you used.
